Real Life - Pete the Cat
In 1999, James adopted a kitten from a local shelter. The unlucky kitten triumphs and finds a new home. James named him Pete. Pete is a kitten, but it has been sitting on James's knees for a long time. James doesn't spend much time with the kitten and immediately feels like Pete is his baby.
One day, a skinny, mischievous kitten stopped running and sat still. James sketched out his picture and decided to draw it. Is he confused by color - black? But what if others think the black cat is "unlucky"? James chose blue.
Pete becomes a muse. James asks Pete to draw a "cat". I sat in the laundry basket, hung on the screen door, and slept. Then, James noticed Pete put her foot in the cup of coffee, and Pete became a cat like coffee. Pete started driving a VW because he was sitting on James's old VW bug while operating the engine. The possibilities and ideas are endless.
Then one day Pete didn't come home. James looked at the door for days and weeks, waiting for Pete to get there. Pete inspired him more than he imagined. Pete's adventure spanned days, weeks, and years.
