The 87-year-old US judge has both radiation therapy and working at the same time

After several treatments and surgeries, US Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg said she had relapsed to cancer but is now showing positive changes thanks to chemotherapy.

"I usually say I will remain a member of the court as long as I can get the job done. I can still do it," the 87-year-old judge said in the statement.

According to the Guardian, the oldest member of the court said she started chemotherapy on May 19, after the biopsy results showed she had liver cancer.

"The immunotherapy used initially has not been successful. However, chemotherapy is showing positive results," she said, adding that the recent hospital admission was unrelated to the problem.

Earlier this week, Ginsburg was discharged from the hospital following treatment for the infection. In May, she was hospitalized to treat a health problem related to her gallbladder. Last year, she had to undergo radiation therapy to treat pancreatic cancer, months before she broke three ribs during a fall in her office.

The 87-year-old judge also had surgery for early stage pancreatic cancer in 2009 and was treated for colon cancer in 1999.

In January, Ms. Ginsburg said she "had no cancer". "

"I will continue chemotherapy every two weeks to prevent cancer and be able to maintain a daily routine. Meanwhile, I have caught up with other court jobs," she said.

Judge Ginsburg isn't the only Supreme Court member to have a health problem this year. Judge John Roberts was hospitalized in June after a fall that injured him in the forehead. According to the Washington Post, the accident happened at the Chevy Chase pub, in the suburbs of Maryland.

As a rule, the judges of the US Supreme Court work for the rest of their lives or until they decide to retire.

Mr. Obama called to postpone the filling of the vacancy of Mrs. Ginsburg

Former US President Barack Obama urged the US Senate not to rush to find a replacement for Judge Ruth Bader Ginsburg after her death on September 18.

When asked about Ginsburg's death, Mr. Obama did not regret praising the late US Supreme Court judge as a "warrior for the right of gender equality" and a person who demonstrated "firm beliefs. into the democracy and ideals of America ”.

According to the granddaughter of the late judge, Ginsburg's "most fervent wish" before her death at the age of 87 was that her successor would be appointed by the new president. Mr. Obama believes that the end-of-life aspirations of the deceased should be respected.

"Four and a half years ago, in the case of Merrick Garland, the Republicans set a precedent that the Senate should not fill the empty Supreme Court seats before the new president is elected," said Obama.

“A fundamental foundation of the law is to ensure that the rules are applied consistently. Do not make decisions based on convenient conditions of current circumstances ”, emphasized the 44th US President.

In a statement on September 18, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said he would consult with President Trump on the proposed candidate to replace Ginsburg's position.

In the latest post on Twitter, Trump urged Republicans to quickly choose the candidate to replace the late judge Ginsburg.

"Republicans - we have been chosen in this position of power and importance to decide for those who have elected us proudly. The most important of those decisions has long been the choice of judges. We have this obligation, not to delay, "Trump wrote on Twitter on September 19.
