President Trump will visit the border wall in the final days of his term
President Trump is planning to head to the US-Mexico border this week to commemorate the construction of the border wall, an act that is supposed to draw attention away from the riots.
Trump will travel to Alamo, Texas, to mark the construction of nearly 644 km of the border wall while the attention of the American people is still on the riots at the parliament building on January 6, AP reported. The news agency said that President Trump is keen to highlight the administration's achievements when his term is nearing the end.
Building border walls was one of the main themes in President Trump's 2016 presidential campaign. In 2020, the government has built hundreds of kilometers of border walls as high as about 9 meters.
The US administration also focuses on areas where the wall can be built more quickly. This resulted in many hills exploding. Animal habitats in protected areas and Native American land have also been flattened.
According to the AP, the American people's tax money is used to pay for this wall, despite Trump's repeated claims that Mexico will bear the cost.
In Texas, Trump is also likely to make his first public speech since condemning the riot in a video posted on Twitter Jan. 7.
The video was taken down and President Trump's account was also suspended by Twitter on Jan. 8 because of "the risk of further inciting violence".
Some senators and senators believe Trump should be deposed before President-elect Joe Biden takes office on Jan. 20.
Democrats are also set to begin the impeachment process. This leads to the possibility that President Trump could be impeached a second time.
