After teasing the release of her second song this year for weeks now, Katy Perry has finally unveiled Daisies, the lead official single from her upcoming yet-to-be-titled fifth album, due to release on 14th August 2020. Laced with a beautiful tune and powerful lyrics, Daisies is an anthem for anyone and everyone following their heart and not letting the opinions of the world deter them.
The new single, Daisies, lauds the tenacity of the human will when it comes to overcoming setbacks and naysayers with its empowering lyrics in Katy Perry’s ethereal voice. “They said I’m going nowhere / Tried to cut me out / Took those sticks and stones / Showed them I could build a house / Tell me that I’m crazy / Never let them change me / So they cover me in daisies.”
The video of Daisies, recently shared by Katy Perry, shows the 35-year-old pregnant singer in an off-white lace dress hugging her baby bump as she croons the lyrics in a scenic natural setting. The beautiful video song has been shot by filmmaker Liza Voloshin, from a safe distance amid the coronavirus pandemic.

A press release from Capitol Records, who will be releasing her fifth album, described “Daisies” “an exhilarating celebration of resilience of the human spirit in the face of cynicism and adversity. The anthemic song is a call to remain true to the course you’ve set for yourself, regardless of what others may think.”
Katy Perry took to her social media handles to share the song, sticking to the deadline she had promised her eager followers.
“Each of us is one in more than seven billion, with our own story of strength and resilience to tell. ‘Daisies’ is out now. I hope it will be the soundtrack to going for your dreams now… especially the ones we left behind,” she wrote, along with a short glimpse of the full song.
Along with the song, Katy Perry also released “Daisies”-themed merchandize- tees, sweatshirts, socks, accessories, etc,- which fans can pre-order here.
Daisies is produced by The Monsters & Strangerz, who have previously collaborated with Maroon 5, Halsey, Dua Lipa, and many other artists. The new single is the American Idol judge’s second release this year- the first song was Never Worn White, where Katy Perry revealed that she is expecting her first child with fiancé Orlando Bloom.
Katy Perry will also be performing Daisies today on Amazon Music’s weekly live performance series at 1 p.m. ET. The American Idol on, May 17, at 8 p.m. ET will also have the singer adding her song’s performance to the celebration of the season finale.
